Springing into summer!

Can you believe we are in June!!??? The weather has been so amazing and has got me excited about the fun prints, color pops and bold accessories that work in spring and through summer!! So let’s get into a few of my favorite pieces that get me through season to season!

Right now my shopping focus is for summer BUT I love to get a piece that I can see me wearing layered NOW. If you have been following me on IG than you have seen my current boutique obsession more amore boutique in New Haven Connecticut. That’s where I scored this fab green floral print dress! I know this dress will be on rotation this summer.

How about adding a dress with your favorite pair of suit pants! The shorter the dress easier to make into a long tunic top layered with a great bright pant! When the weather turns hot, hot, hot I will add a pair of Bermuda shorts, brunch ready!

Let’s get into prints!! Color pops are always a good idea!!! Pairing together separate, doesn’t matter! You can easily pair the third quarter sleeve with shorts and the pants with a simple tank! So get the fun print and don’t look back!

Go with that neon pop and make it a high neck line and sleeveless! This way for spring it can be layered, under or over with a great puff sleeve or even a sheer sleeve!

Now let’s talk long sleeve and a maxi skirt!!! I LOVE taking a maxi and turning it to a strapless!!! So easy to pair with fun bold metallic accessories! The long sleeve can easily pair with denim anything!!

Kimonos or bust!!!! Do not sleep on long dusters, kimono and robe pieces to layer with jeans to suits to a hot night out with the hubs!!

I hope some of these fab spring finds make a splash this summer in your wardrobe!

Please tag me and use #getahinch and #hinchology so I can feature you in my stories!!

Have a fantastic weekend, as always thank you for being here!

Until next style,

Suited summer

Summer is here and some of us will be working!! So here’s a little suited inspo for the upcoming season in the A. C. For me these looks won’t work cause I am in a hot box of a classroom!! The less layers for me the better!  But for those that need layers here are my top 3 combos for your best suited summer!

Sun dresses layered with a tweed jacket and neutral accessories are perfect for day looks that can convert into a hot summer night out or when you leave the A.C.!

Bright and bold for those hot days.  Bring out the values of one color to make everything work well together! A silk tank and bright pop jacket. Love adding print like tiger to an orange look.  This was an inspirational day to say the least!!  I walked with so many amazing woman to create equality for African American woman, and to remind ALL women that we are queens!!

Stepping through the summer garden chic and savvy!! Being a boss doesn’t stop because of a season!! Keep going! NEVER give up! Black and blue with a pop of turquoise will get you backyard BBQ ready straight from the office!

So remember these simple pieces to pair: Tweeds & sun dresses, pants & tanks and lots of color values for an uplifting summer filled with fashion!

Dresses of spring

What is a spring dress? For me that includes all kinds! From maxi to sun and a little bit of flow…it’s all about the details that you add with the dress to give the title spring!

Great cotton neutral wrap dresses can pop with layers and bigger than life bags!

This white embroidered beauty is from Mexico! It’s absolutely hands down a favorite!! love adding colorful accessories to give a celebration kind of vibe!

It’s not exactly a dress but adding what I call my wrestling belt created a dress vibe! The hot pink knee highs took it to a whole new level!

Loved the way that this yellow popped with the cloudy gray! The shape was fun and an instant mood boost! Gave a bit of royal vibes!

Fairytales are made of metallic fabrics and dainty necklaces! Working in like colors to your earrings and accessories creates a match made in heaven!

Textured lace, Jean jackets and evil eyes will keep the pep in your spring step!

Kaftans and an art show…yes please!! Keeping things easy breezy when on the go!

Denim gives far from the blues!! Pop it with colors from the print. I always find navy to be so flattering!

Love using hot summer day dresses in spring!! Great for layering and bringing in a little hot weather vibe!

Simple cotton dresses can be cinched at the waist to create a great shape!! Definitely invest in a neutral fringed sweater to have through chilly summer nights and well into fall and even winter!!

Grab that white linen dress and add tweed for some great texture!! Pair the look with a neutral! Hats are always a great accessory addition for spring!

So start getting use of your summer wardrobe by layering before spring is over!!

Street wear

This time of year layers are necessary!! I’m not always dressed to the nine. Good comfy street wear is ! What’s my definition of street wear? Fun, comfy, layers and a bit of bling!

Love a great pair of Adidas, some color pops and an unexpected pattern like this Valentino clutch!

These sparkle pants are baggy and loose for comfort! Add a white tee, a little color match head and toe!

Layered large Tee’s are a favorite for sure. I don’t know about you but this time of the year is a time to get off my winter weight and feel good about sleeveless tops , short shorts and bathing suits!

Usually my take on street wear is colorful, but sometimes keeping it dark and denim is the way to go!

Sometimes it’s all about the texture and details!! Layers of necklaces, print pops and matching frames, just as eye catching as a neon pop!!

Grab that metallic jumper that you haven’t used since New Year’s and layer with some fantastic gems like emeralds.  Flip your monogram cardigan to create a patter break in your color pops! Top everything off with a conductor hat and you have an uplifted street style all of your own!

So grab those pieces that make you feel comfy, layer up! Add the bling and bring on YOUR street style!

Until next style,

Valentines Vibe

This is one of my favorite times of the year! There’s so much love in the air! Realizing that we are moving right along through winter and Fashion Week is coming!!! So I’m serving up some fun twists to try for your Valentine day vibe!

Ever use pj’s for your day looks? I grabbed a set and split them up to make a few different looks!! Loved the feather pops at the wrist! This color pallet gave me summer sorbet vibes!! The textures are so lush and lovely! So would this be a contenderation for a Valentine’s day look?

I really fell in love with the feather details on these lounge pants! I didn’t love the way they looked by the waist because let’s face it..they aren’t real pants..lol! So I layered with a longer blouse! Make your looks fit you..not the other way around!! So important to feel your absolute best!

This black and gold brings an enchanted textured style! One accessory detail that I so appreciate are special headbands, hats and fascinators.

Obviously anything red with pearls is classic romantic for sure!! Easily pair it with black and white for a fab balance!!

Play with pieces that have pops red, pink or purple!! You can always walk around with a heart garland, LOL kidding! Great look for a run around with your girls for galentine’s day for an afternoon lunch!

Here’s the pj set together with a little tank!! Remember the rule of 3, always try to get three looks from any piece you purchase!

Red and white stripes bring a Parisian vibe for me!! Wouldn’t that be amazing….sitting in Paris at a Cafe, eating a chocolate croissant, yes my favorite…On my bucket list!

Obsessed with a pink and orange vibe! This dress is from Meghan Fabulous!! Photos by Marta who is tagged in all IG photos!  Top it all off with the most gorgeous gold heels from Sarah Flint! Use code: BANICOLEHINCHMAN to save $50!

Special shout out to my girls for galentine’s day! Please check out my IG post to connect with all that are tagged in the post!! This group of ladies are who you want in your corner!!

Swim Suit Issue

This may not be the SI (Sports Illustrated) swimsuit issue but it’s MY swimsuit issue!! Swimsuits can be so much fun when you finally find the right fit!!! It has taken me my whole life to know how to accept and love my body!!! I have had a child (my Frankie) which gave me stretch marks (battle wounds as I like to call them) that I am proud of!! Our bodies were meant to be different!! Ever heard ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!?”

That doesn’t mean I don’t adore a cover up! LOL!! They are so easy to go from being on a beach towel in the sand to being in line for ice cream at the Mr.Softie truck!! I absolutely love bright popping colors or embellishments!! This way you are always styling!!

Even though some cover ups don’t always do what they were meant to, cover up, they create a nice layer to have while running to and from the beach or store!! I love to invest in the basics!! Sarongs are so versatile. Tied around the waist as a skirt or crossed around your neck as a dress!!

Look for loose fitting dresses to use for cover ups!! They will give you a fun look and versatility to take on the day!

One accessory that I can’t seem to get enough of this season (and maybe ALL seasons) is turbans!! The ease of just throwing it on for a little hair control is fantastic!! The look is classic old Hollywood!

The secret is in the accessories!! They can make a pair of linen pants look fabulous!!

Accessories are a way to enhance your look! Surfboards are in the category of summer accessories (hee hee)!! A paddle board is also on the list!! Living so close to the water and knowing what a great core work out it is I really would love to invest in one!! For now we will just match our surf board!!

When you are looking to purchase coverups consider that they should be able to take you from a backyard water fight to an afternoon of BBQ fun!! I love to use my LBS (little black suit) with a simple black skirt and change of hats. Again sometimes all you need is some new and fresh accessories to make an old suit look good!

No matter where you go this summer do it in style!!!

You don’t need to buy a whole new collection of bathing suits, focus on accessories like coverups, fun hats and jewelry!!!

Feeling inspired? Want to inspire? #getahinch to be featured in my story!!!

Be beautiful on the inside and out!!

Nicole

Everyday Hustle

A lot of people ask “Why do you dress up when you are an art teacher for elementary school!!??” I love this question!! It breaks down to a few reasons!! It totally helps me get through my day when I feel my best, comfortable and confident!!! I feel prepared to focus on the tasks that are in front of me, which happens to be our future…lead by example, show them that what you choose to do in life you should be done in your best dressed, if possible. Maybe the confidence I gain from dressing in what I love keeps me from questioning if I look okay. Realizing what you like and what makes you feel your best eliminates wasted time choosing outfits!! The best part of creating a fantastic look is when it is unexpected!!!

One of my favorite instagrammers Kawana Coy @mrs_coy_style_review said it best about a snake print boot and sparkle jacket combo: “Initially I thought it was odd, but it worked.” This is soooo the truth. When I look in my closet and say “I wonder!!?” that is when the magic usually happens (and sometimes I get a good laugh). The picture below of the polka dot shirt with black bow and beige sheer sleeves is a three shirt combo!! Love when this happens with layers!

A quote by Orson Welles are words to live by: “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and NOT giving a damn!” When I put together an outfit my first focus is to pick one piece in my closet that I would like to wear. Then I look at the color to determine what other colors would be most complimenting, like the beige and purple lace combo above (I thought of the beige like a gold/yellow which is purples compliment). Then I look and see if a print may be best, in this case it was texture, lace. Opposites attract with the black and white polka dot flip flop. I try it and if I like it I wear it!!

Get familiar with the color wheel it helps to nail combos!! Sometimes monochromatic colors work well. When everything has the same color base but different hues it only helps to create textures and depths in an outfit!!! Purple and pink seem to make a great marriage.

Look for color details in a piece and match one of them with a layer, like the turquoise in this tweed jacket that I layered with a matching dress. Sweaters with blouses can create new stylized sleeves and pops of colors to make the outfit pull together. I really adore the puffy sheer peeking out from the rolled sleeves.

I hope that these outfits tip starters help you this week and beyond to feel your best. I am and will continue to focus on having fun and feeling confident. Look for inspiration through art and aesthetics. Find me on instagram everyday with new outfit ideas @hinchology!!!
