Fashion week was nothing short of fabulous!! I have to say I love runway shows, I mean that, the street to me has THE best looks!!

There’s magic in the air during fashion week! Everyone is in the zone, focused on how to wow, inspire and catch attention! There’s nothing too over the top!! Everything goes for me anyday, but especially during fashion week!!

So here are looks that I hope will inspire you to get out of your shell, try something new and make you feel fabulous!!!

Let’s start with color!!! Color of the year is…..Drum roll please!

This color is AMAZING!! A rich gorgeous color that pairs well with so many other colors!! So here is how I see it….versions of this color works just as well!!

You could totally rock this head to toe, or pop it here and there! It’s rich, sexy and comands attention!! Never underestimate the power of color!

Now let’s take a look at opposites of the color of the year, or the complimentary color!

At least if your not into the color of the year you can compliment it!!

Stay tuned for my New York fashion week recap!!

Thank you all for being here, believing in me and here to get inspired!!

Until next style!!!

Holiday thanks

As the clock ticks down around the world for Christmas I wanted to send out a special holiday thanks blog to you all!

I appreciate each and every one of you that have supported hinchology and all it has to offer! Whether it’s laughing with or at me, lol when I do a voice over, finding thrills in my frills, so not trying to rhyme, or maybe it’s the truth in my words of life lessons learned.

So I wanted to take a moment and say THANK YOU! From the bottom of my heart thank you for accepting me for me! For all my quirks, for all my sparkle, all my color pops!

So this blog is a thank you note to my fam, and a photo dump for the holidays! It’s last minute but that’s OK! Let’s shop your closet!! Look for like colors in pieces you already have in your closet or similar combinations that can covert into a new style same color pallet!

Let’s start with comfy cozy! Jeans, pleather leggings, ski sweaters and kimonos all the way! Dress them up a little with a pleated skirt. Have fun with metallics and details!

Don’t forget to add in some sparkle and metallics. There’s no right or wrong way!

Last but not least get your prints on! Plaid on plaid, polka dots, don’t stop there play and have fun! If it makes YOU feel good then that’s what to wear!

When pairing prints remember these few rules of thumb, go big and small, matchy matchy or geometric and organic!

Cheers to dressing in what you want and a very happy holiday!

Until next style,

Xoxo,

Nicole

Tops of the season

As summer in New York continues to be hotter than the surface of the sun, I am wearing breathable fabrics and running from a.c. to a.c. So here are some of my top tops of the summer and how versatile they will or will not be for summer! Dress them up, dress them down, what to wear now and inspire for fall!

This Tee was my son’s, a souvenir from Hawaii!! I didn’t have the heart to donate it so I used it!! Put on some cream pants, draped a colorful scarf around my waist and Ta-da!

This Chanel inspo tee really brought the color! Pairing this for fall will be easy as 1, 2, 3! Don’t leave color to summer…fall will be busting with pops of fun colors.

Tube tops are a must for the super hot muggy days! This one I may actually try layering with an oversized bow blouse! Stay tuned!

This tank is an oldie but goodie! It layers amazing with plaid during the holiday time. Or go head to toe sparkle!! There’s never a bad time for more bling! Don’t you agree?

Do a basic tank with a little detailed edge and any print skirt!! Tops like this are great for under or over in the colder months! You can never go wrong with a basic!

A mock neck tank is always a great cut for summer and even better in the fall to layer for THE perfect color block look!

A little frilled neck always keeps whimsy in your look and uplifts the soul!! I created these lace pants, don’t look at the elastic..lol!! Other than that loved them!!

So end your summer at the top, with some of these tubes, tanks and Tee’s!! Get ready to get creative with them!! Because before we know it fall will be calling our name!

Until next style

Nicole

Flower power

What would spring be without flowers and floral prints!! Those warm winds that hit you and get your soul stirring with excitement for future fun in the sun!! The smell of blooming flowers is always exhilirating.  Just like a flower, we are fragile, we need love, self care and an enviornment that allows us to grow!! So breath in the crisp air, learn to be you and keep at it! The best thing to happen may be just an email away!

A floral print with dragons to kick off this blog! Add diamond accessories head to toe!! Keep the textures similar for a seamless look.

Tired of feeling like you have nothing to wear?  You have to look at each piece in a different way.  This long sleeved bowed neck dress with a frilly tank scrunched up with a hair tie..add a blazer and  everything comes together.  Don’t get stuck in thinking there’s only one way to wear something.

A little retro floral print gives a whimsical and fun take on a 70’s vibe.  Love my “know your designer” earrings by my girls Cece at Jewels by Joan.  Pearls are always classic and in style!

Or how about a flash dance vibe to get things done! Dressing down can still be cute!!!

Black accessories frame a flower so well like a still life in a painting….lol I really loved how the flowers looked against the white tights.

A literal take on floral with a larger than life 3-D flower! make the color pop with gray or muted tones. Remind yourself to style your accessories in creative ways! Like this belt that is originally used as a purse strap!

Baroque florals give a regal vibe, but make it spring with an oversized jean jacket!!

Print mix

To say that I am excited to be writing this is an understatement! Today’s blog is a collaboration with two amazing stylists!! Jennifer Sattler from @closetcoreography and Audree kate Lopez Blog and creator of fashion fundamentals.

We all focused on print mixing coming from the views of a personal stylist, an industry stylist and myself. Being an art teacher has enabled me to dress like I am on a runway everyday inspiring my students and allowing my brand Hinchology to go from a dream to reality.

One mix that I love is organics like florals and animals prints! The fact that wild animals live IN the wild must be the reason they always looks so great together!! I adored the add of geometric houndstooth that worked so well because of like colors and created an amazing contrast!

Similar Prints are so super fun!!!! Even though they are different tie dye the color and type of tie dye worked well topped with a headband!

Find colors in one print and match it with another! Pulling pops of color from one print unifies the look. Here you see the geometric paired with the large animal print. (small print works well with big print)

Mixing large and smaller or thick and thin prints work well together! In layers it breaks up the print and brings balance.

Pop a colorful print with a muted one. Bring out the brights against neutrals. Use Black accessories to marry the two. When you add a solid it pulls your eye from head to toe.

Go for monochromatic or color combinations. Pairing colors in different patterns work so easily! A fun pick me up to ANY look!!

Pop white, cream with light pinks to accent a show stopping print or pattern!!! Pull those print mixes within the accessories to add unexpected details.

So grateful to have been able to mix it up with my friends Jennifer and Audree Kate. Collaborating, connecting, uplifting like minded fashionistas is exactly one of the reasons I started this journey!!

Feeling inspired #getahinch and #hinchology!
