Winter Blues

This title may read as if to say I am feeling Blue, and I am …in my fashion!! LOL…let’s see how blue transcends and inspires for some eye catching pallets for the cold days of winter!

Blue prints are a great way to introduce a base to pair solids with! Adding texture like this vest helps create an irreplaceable look! This blue faux fur vest is gorgeous! Over the knee boots are a great investment that can be styled up or down. While looking on Poshmark you can find similar boots. Adding accessories with blue accents will tie the look together.

To create a winter blue doesn’t necessarily mean head to toe! Pair it with other colors like lavender! I really liked the way this hand made bag gifted to me from The butterfly Villa worked with my sheer summer dress turned skirt and houndstooth jacket! If you don’t try you’ll never know if you like the way it pairs!!

Take your blues to the dark side with black vegan leather leggings or any kind of legging for that matter! I used a jean dress as a long shirt, added my vegan leather vest for an edgy look. If you need a blue pop invest in this Gucci kids scarf for a timeless classic that will never go out of style!!

For some wearing white pants in winter is frowned upon…GET OVER IT!! Seriously nothing as good as a white and blue combo in winter! Try these pants from Express! Add pops here and there with socks, scarves and even boot laces!! Be creative with where you can add color!

Cream is just as captivating as white! Here I layered a skirt and dress. This is a great way to incorporate ALL of your wardrobe ALL year long. This paisley print dress has added pops. Layers are a must for winter.

So if winter has you feeling blue…turn that frown upside down. Add some blue in your winter wardrobe. It can be chic and dressy or a look to have a snowball fight in.

Feeling inspired from this post!? #getahinch and @hinchology to inspire fashion fun and feeling good on the inside and out.

Poppin in the New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Wow… SOOOOOO excited to be posting the first blog post of the year!!!! A New Year filled with promise and hope! Have you created a new years resolution or a goal for 2021? My focus is on giving back, having fun, being authentic and doing it in style! So today we will find different ways to elevate your look for 2021 by popping color into any style!!

Pink is one of my favorite colors!! (also a purple lover) For this pop I started with the pattern!! I loved that the plum Lele headband matched with the brown in the Lion print top. Pulling out the hot pink in the vest and the boots! Layer stack and stagger!! Even though they are not the perfect match of pinks I like the different values together!! Remember if you like it try it!! HAVE FUN!! Try this Old Navy vest in dusted chocolate that can be a great pop with grey and white layers!! (p.s. these hunters are kids)

This look is part of the give back in my New Years focus! This gifted Regina Herman Naomi bag in Camel, talk about being OBSESSED!! Not only is the bag so super luxe and soft (watch for the reveal on my insta) it is a purchase with purpose!! Select a charity that a percent of your purchase will go to!! Pop your collar with a pin knowing that you just helped someone!! I can’t think of anything more stylish!! AND for the month of January use code: JAN2021 for 15% off all bags!

As some of you know Pantone announced their colors of the year in December! Drum roll please…..Grey and Yellow!! Keep the pop simple by adding a hoodie that is a pick me up color and pair it with grey for a up to date color trend! Try this Old Navy heather grey blazer! The perfect tone to transition into spring!

Being authentic to your style is wearing pins through your tights! Get creative and enjoy the process!! I am excited to announce that I created this tulle skirt…still working on my craftsmanship however I am more than happy with my creation!! Not up to creating your own? Try Walmart’s 7-layers tulle skirt in so many colors and such a great price!! Pair them with Shein’s amazing floral lace tights to be able to add brooches for details!

Winter tie dye……YES PLEASE!! Pulling colors out from the mix and adding a neutral like creams and pearls balances the look. Shein’s amazing tie dye blazer would be great paired with jeans or pleather capris, better yet belted and worn as a dress!

If your wardrobe is in need of a bit more color pop start with a scarf! This Kurt Geiger scarf at Nordstrom will go great with all basics. Check out these amazing crochet earrings hand crafted by The Buttery Villa . Supporting artists not only helps communities but also creativity!!

Get your layers on this winter! Gold pops and colorful beads can accent an already wild and fun print pop. This kaftan will make a great beach cover up in the summer but for now a great side knotted dress to show off some leopard boots. Walmart has 17 INSANE amazing Kaftans that make the possibilities endless!

Make this year your year! Feel good inside and out. Try something new, or old in a new way!! NEVER let anyone but yourself define who you are or how you have to dress!! After all style is how we tell the world who we are!! Getting ready helps to feel good and when we feel good we give the best of ourselves!!

Jumpers and rompers

What are your feelings about jumpers and rompers? They are one of my favorite things to wear any season…until you have to use the bathroom…LOL. Some are easier on and off than others, however the look compares to no other!! They create a streamline affect head to toe that looks flawless and fun!!

I adore going with a monochromatic theme with a favorite color, yes you guessed it, purple!! Love putting purple on purple like my bucket bag with this romper. The purple velvet bucket bag is not available however the white leather bucket is!! Yes Please!!

Other rompers were meant to stand out like this cheetah one!! I found this at Shop Therapy in Northampton Mass for a steal!! Talk about comfort!! Paired with these Target bowed espadrille flats and I felt like I had a winning combo!!

Do you ever just choose a piece for the amazing pattern? I couldn’t resist this pattern. The color pops caught my eye!! I found this at pop up shop in my local mall a few years back. The long sleeves aren’t ideal for summer but if you have a cooler night it is THE perfect romper!!

Then of course there is the more practical romper. This was a fun wear to home depot while buying Hydrangeas to plant!(one of my favorite flowers) Paired it with my fanny pack across my body to keep up with the trends of today which also made it so so wonderful to shop hands free. The visor with the clear brim is genius, acts just like sunglasses!! I grabbed this romper a while ago from Target and this current short sleeve romper is so adorable and at such a great price!!

Talk about genius…have you tried Insomnia cookies!!!??? If you haven’t what are you waiting for!! They are so delightful!! Fresh, warm and oh so many choices!!! I had such a fun time snagging two dozed, buy one get one dozen free, by being on their loyalty program. My absolute favorite is the M&M cookie!! This jean romper was a fun and stylish way to get my sweets on. Pair a simple jumper like this with one color throughout your accessories to balance and connect head to toe!!

Of course if your jumper already has an amazing color and pattern there is little to add. I used my color wheel knowledge to add the head band to compliment the color. I found this at Target and my eye is on their sleeveless Jumper!!

Rompers and Jumpers can be the perfect addition to any season wardrobe!! Pairing details through the pattern creates a head turning look!! In the colder month you can layer with a suit jacket to elevate the look!

Each week there is a new fashion theme here on my blog and if you feel inspired tag me @hinchology and #getahinch!! Let’s inspire together!!!

Until next style!!

Fruit Fashion

What better time of the year to wear fruit prints than the summer, right!? When I put on a fruit print it instantly brings a smile to my face and a happy vibe to my outfit. The whimsy of wearing these prints is like no other!! You are guaranteed to smile while wrapped in fruit!!

What are some of your favorite fruits for summer!? I could eat watermelon and pineapple everyday!! That’s why when I found this dress in the girls department at Walmart I had to grab it!! Getting the largest size they had in girls was 14. I usually wear a small or medium in woman’s. Sometimes you can get lucky enough to find a girls size up to 16 which gives a bit more room. The cuts are a bit different fitting because lets be real they are made for a child, so sizing up is a good idea! If you find it hard to get the girls clothes to fit right at least be sure to check the fun accessories!! Am I the only one that shops in the girls department?

This head to toe oranges dress was also from the girls department at Walmart!! Though these dresses are sold out I do have this Yellow and blue striped dress in my cart right now!! The cut is loose and flowing so I know it will fit my curves!!

This banana dress is from last year at old navy. The newer version of this dress is just as fantastic!! Black and white leaves crew neck dress is on such a great deal and is perfect to add colorful fruit accessories to create a fun summer vibe!!

Speaking of fruit accessories, my pineapple print eternity scarf from Walgreens worked perfect when I pulled the green and white from the print. Sometimes there is no need to add multiple accessories if the print is fun enough!! The black and White Scarf that is available right now at Walgreens can be used in so many different ways.

Not only do I like a good headscarf I also love to wear hats and add embellishments like the pearl head band from Bougie bands. This pineapple shirt is from the boys section at the gap. Even though the boys tee’s had nothing as juicy this season the girls watermelon heart tee is cute to pair with jean shorts!! I love bright and colorful patterns and sometimes you get a bit more of that in the kids sections!

Bright color pops always catch my eye and so do a stack of french macaroons from trader joe’s (heehee). If you don’t know this about me they are one of my favorite desserts. I thought it would be fun to bring out my antique straw basket purse that was gifted from my pop, it reminded me of a huge macaroon. Pairing it with my DIY Crayola model magic fruit necklace and my sparkle Mulberry and Grand pants made for a fun afternoon!! These cream lounge pants would give the same wonderful look.

In my eyes ANYTHING purple is a yes….its’ my favorite color!!! Walmart delivered again from the girls section!! My purple dress is not available anymore however this pineapple sunglass print tank dress is and such a great pick for these hot humid days!

Creating this post was so much fun and I wanted to leave you with the famous quote:

“When life gives you lemons you make lemonade!” Everyday may not be perfect however you can choose to have a great day everyday!! Perspective is what’s needed to do that!! So if you are needing some sweet lemonade added to your day try this lemon dress from Shein!

As the summer months unfold with beautiful weather get your fruit fashion on!!!

Have a favorite fruit look #getahinch and tag me @hinchology to inspire together! You can now follow my blog through Bloglovin’!!

Until next look!!!

Summer Animal prints!!

Go WILD and get your hands on all the animal print you can this summer!!! Kick up your style a few notches with adding pops of cheetah or color animal print in to your summer wardrobe!! This doesn’t mean you need to be covered head to toe with zebra stripes or leopard spots, (although I have been known to do that) you can use the print in your accessories to add just enough fun to your outfit!!

If you haven’t noticed I am a bit obsessed with turbans!! Head wraps, scarfs, sign me up!! When my hair seems unruly it is the perfect accessory!! These J.crew lion printed silk pants paired well with my Givenchy thrifted scarf that I scored for three bucks!! Do you thrift or tag sale? I absolutely love finding special treasures!

Finding pieces that are versatile is key when it comes to prints. The summer kimono that I found serves as a great light layered coverup or head wrap!! If you can get any piece of clothing in a perfect square you can use it like a scarf to create the perfect head wrap. (Check my Instagram for a DIY)

Summer beach wraps or coverups are easy to find in colorful and fun animal prints this time of the year. Creating strapless dresses using a single knot is a fun and different way to style a scarf!!!

Being 5′ 2″ has it’s advantages like being able to score some fantastic pieces in the girls section at Walmart!! I just could’t wait to pair my jumper with my Dolce & Gabbana leopard bag. Do you pair similar prints together?

Being over 40 makes me want to stay on point with fashion trends and not be afraid to try them!! I went ahead and rocked biker shorts and paired them with an animal print!! Loved how it brought adventurous vibes to my day!!

Finding animal print in color is so much fun. Pieces that have a lot of character are easy to pair with solid colors and a hit every time.

Pairing neutral colors with neons gives an up to date and happy feel to your summer fashion vibe.

The willingness to express yourself through fashion is a sign of knowing who you and not being afraid to show it!!

Do you do animal print?? Feel inspired? Want to inspire with your Animal print outfits? #getahinch and @hinchology to get featured in my Insta story!!

Until next print!!

Wearing stripes!?

Just coming off of the 4th of July weekend and wearing my patriotic stripes I thought it was fitting to follow up with stripes for the everyday summer outfits!! Summer calls for them!! Stripes pair well with so many versatile styles!!

Sometimes they can give a nautical feel, don’t you think?!! So when my family and I ventured to the docks near my house for a little stroll…my striped dress from Juicy Couture came to mind!! Fitting right!? Cotton and comfy! Do you have a go to fabric for summer?

Stripes don’t have to be the traditional patterns of two colors!! Think of them as a basic necessity for your closet!! Late last winter/spring when I was with my mom during her extended hospital stay, I came across this striped skirt from Portugal. It had come over with my Grandmother when she started a new life in America!! I love the vibe of the stripes and with it’s family history it became a favorite!

Now of course there is the more literal stripe that can be dressed for everyday adventures!! It’s a perfect match with Khakis to create a boater life look…yes please!! Walking the streets of quaint little towns in New York or Massachusetts, always works well with a basic striped top! ( Yes I am a Massachusetts girl living in a New York minute, as I like to put it!)

Then of course there are those days when you just need to put on your tulle and have a fun photo shoot!! I usually only layer during the cooler seasons, but something got me saying layer the striped dress from the kids section in Walmart, it could use some tulle. Who said dress up is only for kids!!

Try using one common color throughout with your accessories! While the sun is out so should pops of bright colors!! Remember you gotta be your own fun and sunshine sometimes.

Using scarves from other seasons as tie around cover ups or skirts really gives you a bang for your buck!! Being versatile with your wardrobe can give new looks and a mirage of never before seen pieces. It’s not about how many things you have to work with but how well you work with the things you have!!

Do you use pieces in your wardrobe for different purposes? Getting inspired!? Want to share your ideas and creativity…#getahinch!

Stay true to your likes and continue to dress in what makes YOU feel your best. Remember people will always have something to say so give them something really worth talking about!?

Until next style!

Fashion for the 4th

Nothing is more patriotic fun than wearing red, white and blue on the 4th of July, one of my favorite holidays of the year!! Bring on the BBQ’s!! I dream of the wonderful fireworks after having s’mores by the fire pit! I can smell the fire works right now!! It is always so uplifting to be able to pair these three colors in so many different styles using so many different pieces!!

Will you be wearing your stripes this holiday!?!! If looking like you’re wrapped in the American flag is not your thing then use pops of the flag with your accessories to create a great festive look!

Nautical wear is fun for summer and the 4th. Red is such a bright pop of color fun you can never go wrong with!! Taking walks to the ocean on this Holiday always gives me a thankful heart for where I live.

American traditions like cheeseburgers and hot dogs finished with apple pie and ice cream are some of the core iconic foods of our country. One of my favorite apple pie and ice cream combos comes from McDonald’s …..Now if that is not Americana than I don’t know what is!!

Strolling along small seaside towns in my area and enjoying all the 4th of July decor brings me back to so many wonderful memories as a child!! My Mother, Father, brother Noel and I would jump in the car to sit in a large grass field in the middle of UMass, Amherst and watch what felt like fireworks larger than the Earth. Cotton candy in one hand while the other waived to a stilts walker dressed like Uncle Sam is forever in my heart.

Walks in parks are always a great way to spend family time on the 4th. Especially when you find families of Swans. Nature always lifts my soul and grounds me. Do you feel that with nature!?

Whatever the holiday brings you I hope it tempts your tastebuds, fills your heart with hope and love and of course ends with sweet treats and sparkling delights in the sky!!

So thankful and grateful for the freedom that is entrusted to me. I thank those that have served our country to give us these rights.

Do you have an outfit inspo for July 4th? If so inspire with #getahinch.

Until next style,

Black and White fashion

What’s your view on black and white fashion?! I feel that this combination is versatile and complimenting to everyones’s figure!!! Whether you stay true to a 50/50 combo head to toe or pair it with pops of your favorite colors, its a hit!!! Having a go to LBD (little black dress) or a pair of white skinny jeans, keeps you styling all season long!!

In black and white fashion EVERYTHING works together!!! Use stripes, polka dots or houndstooth….No matter the pattern it will work!! Add your favorite Pearls and crystals to create a polished look!!

Be sure to have your basics in both white and black!!! This way you can pair quickly and easily!!

Mixing large and small prints together works impeccably! I favor turning skirts into strapless dresses this time of the year! The idea that I can get several different stylish looks from one piece in my closet is a win-win!

Finding balance in an outfit can be as easy as using belts as headbands, like the houndstooth print below!

Its more than fantastic to have such an easy and quick go to for summer fashion right!? Better yet you can pair it with ANY color pop!!! Adding a colorful hat, necklace, scarf, or shoe can be the perfect pairing.

Fashion is as you know way more than black and white, however when you want to run out for a walk or a drive to your favorite ice cream spot, grab black and white!!

Your fashion can ignite happiness and inspire others!!

Do you have a Black and White go to outfit!?

I have been so impressed and inspired by all my wonderful Insta tribe, (My Instagram family) and their #getahinch !! LET’S INSPIRE TOGETHER!!!

Don’t forget……have fun!!!
